A systems term for producing a simplified model of a set of real banking tasks. The information (or data) which is involved (i.e. used or produced) in one or more banking activities is logically arranged in this model and the relationships between the data is established. It is one of the first things which systems developers do when automating a banking task. It provides the basic model upon which the computer programs are designed.
